Fix No Sound In Ubuntu 14.04

     Guide Overview
 
One of the problems people face after installing Ubuntu is no sound. In this tutorial we are going to show you a few easy fixes.
 
     Please note
 
If these fixes do not work for you please start a new thread in the Linux & Unix section.
 
     Tool's Needed
 
Terminal.
 

  Step 1
The easiest solution is to force reload Alsa. To do that, Open terminal and type or copy and paste the following.

sudo alsa force-reload

And, restart your computer.
 
If the above did not work.

 

 

Step 2

 

 

Edit speech-dispatcher file,  To edit the file, Open terminal and type or copy and paste the following.

sudo gedit /etc/default/speech-dispatcher

Now change RUN=yes to RUN=no. Remember to save the change before exit.

 

ReBoot the system.

  Step 3

 

Try reinstalling Alsa and Pulse Audio, To reinstall Pulse Audio and Alsa, Open terminal and type or copy and paste the following one at a time.

 

sudo apt-get remove --purge alsa-base pulseaudio

sudo apt-get install alsa-base pulseaudio

sudo alsa force-reload
