My USB mouse has decided to stop working in one of two particular USB ports. I have to connect it roudn the other side of the computer which is annoying.

But the PC still recognises the device, the mouse has a light that shows its connected and still works, and the USB ports work with everything else.

I even tried an old mouse I don't normally use and the exact same thing.

Does this make sense? Is it a virus?

Is it a virus?

Highly unlikely !  It is far more probable that your USB port has died, but without basic information on your computer - make and model at a mininum - and your operating system it is difficult to give more concrete advice.

I think it is a driver problem. Try to find and uninstall the mouse's driver and then let the hardware install it again. It might help.
