Why am I here? I started with a very slow computer with high CPU Usage and Physical memory running at 99% when I opened Firefox, then dropping to 40% and hovering around 96% (95-99). Right at this moment is is at 51% which still seems high since I only have two WordPad pages open.

I have been experiencing High memory when I start Firefox, and it seems to be partly connected to Adobe. When I end-process for FlashPlayer in Task Manager, the Memory and CPU use drops dramatically.

I did use the Temp File Cleaner by OldTimer, yesterday and that helped a lot. But today when running it windows closed automatically with a warning message (You are about to be logged off Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automaticly in one minute) which led me to running a CBS.log, as suggest elsewhere.

The log seem to report problems. similar resulst from a CBS log that a user on 31 May 2013 - 01:59 AM posted at bleempingcomputer.com.

namely many lines in the log that reported:

SQM: Warning: Failed to upload all unsent reports. [HRESULT = ...
Failed to internally open package. [HRESULT ...
Failed to internally open package. [HRESULT =
Warning: Unrecognized packageExtended attribute.

(There were no 'Error' lines. in my CBS.log)

To which  Malware Response Instructor requested that user to dl and run
    AdwCleaner log
    Junkware log
    Result.txt
    Fss.txt

I took the initative to do that myself just now. I am not sure if these are the malware programs that should be reported elssewhere or not. sorry folks.

I have created those logs and I am hoping that MRI or another will be able to help me.

Note: I see in the AdwCleaner log that there is a reference to Google Chrome v, is that a routine check for AdwC. or did it detect Google Chrome, which I don't want on my computer and I should try to uninstall/delete?

I did delete some line breaks to shorten the length of the logs and changed what looked like address data to "xxx" (ie IPv4 Address).

Thanks in advance

  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to the following:

    • Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
    • A 14 day trial of the Premium features is pre-selected. You may deselect this if you wish, and it will not diminish the scanning and removal capabilities of the program.

  • Click Finish.

p22002970.gif Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your desktop.
There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.

rKill.exe: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/
iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/

  • Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.

  • If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
  • Do not reboot until instructed.
  • If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.

If normal mode still doesn't work, run the tool from safe mode.

When the scan is done Notepad will open with rKill log.
Post it in your next reply.

NOTE. rKill.txt log will also be present on your desktop.

NOTE Do NOT wrap your logs in "quote" or "code" brackets.
Do NOT use spoilers.
Do NOT edit your reply to post additional logs. Create new reply. I'll not get any email notifications about edits so I won't know you posted something new.

Just a note on what I did this evening.
In Norton security suite I ran: File Tune up, which only removed temp files, and I ran Disc Optimization, because I never did before and took a nap. When I woke up it was done and I started the computer,

I open Task Manager to monitor Memory and CPU.
It starts at about 40% memory; then I open wordpad and memory use starts to climb by the second. within 20 seconds it is up to 99% usage. Then while I am trying to organize notes in wordpad, it drops down and up again.

reader_sl.exe *32 adobe Acrobat SpeedLauncher suddenly appears in Task Manager, I don't have Adobe open nor am I using any Adobe products.

I Get a Performance Alert: High Memory usage by Host Processes for Windows Services (HM by HPWS).

FireFox is not open.

I end process on reader_sl.exe and memory seems to drop for a second?.

I Go to open FF to this site, takes a full minute to load
I Get a Performance Alert: High CPU useage by HPWS

Then I get a Performance Alert: HM by FF, while looking at this page doing nothing else on FF.

Before the Norton clean up, in cmd exe i entered tasklist/SVC to get a list of tasks as Memory was running very high, staying at/near 99% and CPU looked high, but mostly I had some 56 Processes going, that dropped down to 51 by the time I entered the tasklist, becaue my computer was so slow. Then I did a second scan when it jumped to 56 Processes again.

I took screen shot of those I can post.

Right now the processes seem to be fluctuating between 49 and 51, usually 51 when I have FF open, (I am writing this in WordPad to paste to my responce to your letter.) and for somereason, memory use has suddenly dropped down to 76%, like there is high memory use for the first hour I have the computer on, or when I open FF. But the processes numbers, now, are staying at about 50.

It seems that a couple of these programs I had previously Downloaded in the last two days and posted results, as listed above. I did not load a second version, but ran them again as requested for the current report.

I have gotten Temp File Cleaner (TFC) and ran it sucessfully a couple of times but the last couple of days I have had a problem, I just can't look that up right now (in my notes) if I havn't noted it above. This time it ran okay. total files cleaned 10.00 mb, did not close programs nor restart.

See my first post for results of AdwCleaner 11/06/2015  > AdwCleaner[S0] log:

I ran Junkware Removal Tool on Thu 06/11/2015 at 12:26:45.99
and reported results above?

I. Download Temp File Cleaner (TFC)

I ran and it  Removed about 10 mb;

II. Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

I ran copy/pasted to Wordpad, and it disappeared after JRT. I could not find C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt that file did not exist in C:,
I will have to run it again it again:

How is computer doing?

The computer was doing great after that last round of tools. But I deceided to wait before I responded to see if it stayed that way. It did for a couple of days, then started in with high CPU and Physical Memory at 95% and higher. This would happen for an hour or so a day, and right now It is at 100% CPU and 97% memory (I did restart the computer and that seemed to clear things for a few moments, but quickly soard to 95% memory)

. I am unsure which one of those tools did the job -but it seems like I may need to run it every day?

What are my options now, I wonder?

Download Process Explorer: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx
Unzip ProcessExplorer.zip, and double click on procexp.exe to run the program.
NOTE. Windows Vista, 7 and 8 users right click on procexp.exe, click "Run As Administrator".
Click on View > Select Colunms.
In addition to already pre-selected options, make sure, the Command Line is selected, and press OK.
Go File>Save As, and save the report as Procexp.txt.
Paste the content into your next reply.

.........................

To note: I found again today that using TFC causes critical problem:
windows encountered critical problem... restart in one... save your work...

Windows automatically restarts. I was having that same problem just prior to comming here.

Another problem is that during the course of all of these tools, I have lost the setting for the file type in my folders. I used to be able to see the file type (.txt, jpg, png etc) in the icon view of folders, but also when I Downloaded, made screen captures and or saved documents, etc. to a folder in the Save As field the file type is now missing. This is sometimes essential in my work as I am writing html code, for instance documents titled jpeg or jpg are sometimes not recognized, and I ofen use the same name for different documents, so when searching it helps me to have that file extentions show.

Open Windows Explorer. Go Tools>Folder Options>View tab and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".

As for your CPU usage...

Go Start>Run (Start Search in Vista/7), type in:
msconfig
Click OK (hit Enter in Vista/7).
Windows 8/8.1 users. Press Windows logo key aa922834-ed43-40f1-8830-d5507badb56c_91. and start typing the following:
msconfig
Press Enter.

Click on Startup tab.
Click Disable all
IMPORTANT! In case of laptop, make sure, you do NOT disable any keyboard, or touchpad entries.

Click Services tab.
Put checkmark in Hide all Microsoft services
Click Disable all.

Click OK.
Restart computer in Normal Mode.

NOTE. If you use different firewall, than Windows firewall, turn Windows firewall on, just for this test, since your regular firewall won't be running.
If you use Windows firewall, you're fine.

Same problem?

I did as directed and

1. The tray is now opaque white instead of trasparent.

2. the audio obviously no longer works, so I click to start it/check it out. Troubleshooter takes off?
:Troubleshooting has completed; The troubleshooter made some changess to your system. Try attempting the task you were trying to do before.
Problems found; Hardware changes might not have been detected. Detected !.
> Aditional info: Search for help; post a question at a windows community; find related troubleshooters related to this problem; If the problem still exists you can try any of the following: Get help from someone you trust; Recovery, undo changes to the system files and programs; Online support contact customer support online;
I did none of that.

3. I found in the Action center: Windows Security Center Service is turned off Turn
= on now; clicked Turn on now result: The Windows Security Center service can't be started.

4. Can not connect to the internet, so I can't report how it is doing.
I really can't operate my computer like that or be on-line. Am I being punked?
CPU Usage at started low, 32% memory. but CPU did shoot up it seems to 40%.

5. went back to System Configuration to turn on all start up and all services -I think thats what you had me undo?

6. restarted computer. It would not shut down. It Hung up on "eplorer.exe ... playing log off sound.." Then some sort of pretty control panel for sound appeared for about 4 seconds while I was scribbling on a page. I pressed forced restart and here I am.

CPU usage does seem to be low below 10% and membory is at 62%.
