hiya

ive got a philips pcrw804 cd re-writer the problem is that the pc picks it up as a cd-rom the pc is running windows xp pro do you think a firmware update would solve this?

Hi Daniel3679.
Not sure what you mean by "picks up".
Are you saying the drive won't burn or just that windows itself (Device Manager, My Computer) is identifying it as a standard cd-rom reader?
What does your burning software identify it as?
I always recommend users keep their firmware updated to keep up with current media but there's no guarantee windows will report it any differently afterwards.

it displays it as a cd-rom drive in my computer burning software dosent pick it up which i thought was to do with the fact that it was being displayed as a cd-rom
