I was talking to someone the other day and i was asked how a person moves from being a 'New Member to Member to Forum Regular' etc.... and i had to admit that i had no idea.
Does it work on the number of posts submitted or is it connected to the average number of posts per day?
It just got me thinking, that's all..... can someone explain plz.

* Posting in the Forum Games and Bleeping Computer Arcade does not raise
post count.

* After 1000 posts a member is allowed to choose a custom member title.
So instead of "Forum Addict" for instance I changed mine to "Bleeping Diva" ;)

* Posting just to raise one's post count is frowned upon.
Useless unnecessary posts can be removed.

*And in fact, bloated post count gained by intentional posting in order to
raise post count can be reversed.

Just one other question (i forgot to add it in the first topic)...... why do i see some members with the title...'banned'
How does this come about? and if they are Banned.... why can they still post in the forums?

Banned means just like it sounds. They are banned, not to return as a registered member.
And are banned for various reasons.
And they are not able to post any longer.
The only thing that they may be able to do is read forums as a guest.

Banning: there are people who join BC for malicious or fraudulent purposes, or others who repeatedly violate Forum Rules. After a review process, which may often include warnings to members about conduct, these people are banned. The banning process keeps the BC forums family-friendly, safe, and courteous.
Banned members may not access this site under that member ID, as Scarlett has noted. It may happen, however, that some of the banned member's posts are helpful, informative, or within forum guidelines; these are not removed, and these posts are what you see.
Regards to all,
John

I know this is going further off topic (but it was already answered, so...), but i have a question about the bannings.

I know that members are banned when they break the forum rules, but is it only the ACCOUNT that's banned, or is it a full-out IP block? For instance if a dude/chick was banned, could they come back and create a different forum account and continue posting, or are they permanently denied the ability to post?

Or does it simply depend on the nature of the offense?

I've been wondering how that works. Thanks for clearing it up!!

I have no desire to change my title right now (although I'll probably be dieing to change it when I get close to 1000 :flowers: ). Also, I'm all for resetting post counts; if you want to make useless posts, go to the games and arcade section. And if you want to say useless stuff, create a blog; you can say whatever you want (within the rules)...that's what I did!!! :trumpet:

I enjoy your blog, rms4evr; it is not useless in the least.
