Hi, I keep getting 'com surrogate stopped working' errors whenever win8 tries to generate avi thumbnails. The problem began after installing the lamemp3 codec required for the video editing software virtualdub via the setuplamemp3 installer. The fault is listed as a problem with Dllhost relating to Fault module Lameacm.acm. The codecs are community based (I don't think really active any more) so I'm trying to figure out if the problem is technical and resolvable or whether it is corrupted in some way. Uninstall of the codec isn't really an option as windows claims to uninstall it but doesn't - The application still uses the codec after an uninstall and reboot. Is there a way to fix the 'Com Surrogate stopped working' error and make sure everything is all working fine? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
