I trust you do have SP3 installed?

Also, do you meet the minimum system requirements?

With the printer attached and turned on go to this page. Click on the button to let HP find the correct driver.

You said you downloaded and tried all drivers. That included the 100MB driver?

Edit: Your XP is 32bit and not 64bit, correct?

When you said yes, you also mean that XP is 32bit?

I extracted all the files from the 30MB driver to a separate folder using WinRAR. There is a setup file. You may want to extract the files from the exe file first and then double click the setup file.

If that does not work then unregister and reregister the Windows installer.

  1. On the Start menu (Windows), click Run
  2. Enter msiexec /unregister,and then click OK.
  3. On the Start menu (Windows), click Run
  4. Enter msiexec /regserver,and then click OK.

If that does not work then update your Windows Installer to 4.5 here. You want WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe
