MY DAUGHTER GAVE ME A DELL INSPIRON 15 7000 SERIES LAPTOP FOR MY BIRTHDAY LAST YEAR. bEFORE SHE PRESENTED IT, SHE HAD BEST BUY LOAD IT WITH MICROSOFT WORD, EXCEL AND POWER POINT.
IT HAS WINDOWS 8 WHICH IS A TOTAL NIGHTMARE (i THINK).  i BOUGHT AN INSTRUCTION BOOK AND TRIED TO LEARN TO
USE IT.
SOON.. i HAD VIRUSES AND THAT BROWSER HIJACKER ALTAMENUENDO (OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT). i TRIED AVG AND
OTHER PROGRAMS TO GET RID OF IT.K

SO, IN DESPERATION i DID A SYSTEM RESTORE ON IT--- WHICH WIPED OUT THE THREE PROGRAMS MY DAUGHTER HAD
PAID FOR.

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND INFORMATION ON HOW I CAN RESTORE IT TO A POINT BEFORE I DID THIS MAJOR WIPEOUT AND RETURNED IT TO FACTORY NEW CONDITION.
I WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO GET BACK THE PAID FOR PROGRAMS AND THEN WORK ON GETTING RID OF THE MAL WARE
WHICH WOULD BE BACK... AGAIN.
I FEEL SO BAD ABOUT DESTROYING THE PROGRAMS MY DAUGHTER PURCHASED FOR ME.
CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THERE IS HOPE IN GETTING THEM BACK?
THANK YOU
  JOANN37

Hi Joann37 :)

First of all, please don't type using the Caps Lock here. There's no need to do a such thing and it makes you look a bit agressive, which I'm sure you aren't. Now, Excel, Word and PowerPoint all belong to Microsoft Office, so there's only one program you need to "get back", and even there, it's just a product key. Do you remember if it was Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) 2010 or 2013? If BestBuy installed Microsoft Office independently, it means that even if you do a Factory Reset, you won't get it back since it wasn't part of the original image the manufacturer stored on the Recovery partition and/or discs.

Once thing you could try to do is to use ProduKey by NirSoft, and see if it can find the Office 20xx product key in the Registry. From there, write it down, download the Microsoft Office version you need (I can link you it) and simply reinstall it using the product key.

Did you check with your daughter to see if see still has the original documentation from Best Buy? It is possible the product keys for the software may be listed there. In fact, Best Buy may even have a record of the transaction and software purchase.
