I am new here.  Yesterday, all of the sudden, my exe programs started opening Windows Media Center instead of the program it was supposed to open.  This has never happened before and I could not open my Avast to clean it (opens WMC instead).  I contacted Avast and they said it was a virus.  I am not sure why Avast didn't catch the virus since I keep it updated.??  They were unable to help me.

My system restore will not work, so I can't go back to an earlier time.

It only affects one profile on my computer.  Is there anyone here who knows what this is and how to fix it?  I am not a computer expert by any means.   :(

Thank you!

You can try this:

1 - Download this file and save it to Your desktop ( You have to be logged in that profile where the exe files not working)

2- Right click on it and select "Merge"

3- If it is asks You if You really want to load that file, just click Yes.

4- Wait till its finish.

5- Reboot and try if the exe files working

Let me know if helped.
