windows 8 key recovery

does anyone know how to recover a windows 8 key if the drive repair failed and refresh and reset fail to work also on windows 8.1?

Firstly you can download your iso version here if you need another install disk.

 

This will only work if the computer was an OEM like HP. The Windows 8 key is embedded in firmware. You can create a bootable live linux disk. You can download Puppy linux which I believe will work. Burn the iso disk. In order for the disk you boot you will need to disable SecureBoot in UEFI and also Fastboot/Quickboot if enabled. You can also use Rufus to create a bootable USB flash drive using the Puppy linux iso. 

 

After booting to the puppy desktop open Rox terminal and type the following command

ls /sys/firmware/acpi/tables

Look for a table called MSDM

 

Type the following command

hd /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/MSDM

You do not need to use sudo with puppy as you are already sudo.

Also here for other methods if the above command do not work for you.
