I am an aspiring malware analyst/security enthusiast and former BleepingComputer lurker. I have spent some time in the IRC channel under the monicker JohnnyJackington, and I have been using the tools here for years in my career and personal life. I recently started following Grinler's posts via my Feedly account, and I have decided that I do not wish to lurk any longer.
I want to be involved in helping people clean up and, more enticingly, help perform forensic analysis of malware. I have been diving deeper and deeper into both static and dynamic analysis of malware (live memory forensics, decompiling/debugging, diffing, deep packet inspection, etc.), and I am hoping to both contribute my skills to the community and develop my skills with the community's brilliant insight and talent.
On other notes, I started a blog over at http://presumptuouscommoner.blogspot.com, and I am planning to update it with some amount of regularity. It is not a wellspring of knowledge, but rather my personal musings on my journey into deeper levels of cybersecurity guruism. And the name was randomly generated using the "Phrase" tool over at http://watchout4snakes.com/wo4snakes/Random/RandomPhrase. Presumptuous Commoner seemed like a lucky first hit, so I ran with it. I have also been working on an application in my spare time that will make "scanning" a system for mutexes that are known to belong to certain malware families a simple and straightforward task. Progress has been slowgoing, but fruitful.
Looking forward to working alongside the fine people here! Cheers!
