You may want to print out these instructions or save it as a text document, and use them as a reference. If you have any questions regarding the fix, please ask us before proceeding. It is also important for you to don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order.

=====================================

Uninstall Programs
  • Click Start » Run » type: appwiz.cpl » OK
  • Find and remove the following program(s) (if present):

    TrustIn Popups
    Trust Cleaner

  • Close Add/Remove Programs window after uninstalling.
=====================================

Please open HijackThis, click Do a system scan only, and then place a checkmark beside each of these entries:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {07A78AEA-4A54-4967-9A60-4B68592D30C7} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {590FFB84-6A29-4797-9C0E-B15DF2C4CDCB} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {da7ff3f8-08be-4cac-bc00-94d91c6ae7f4} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FE6C16C4-16AD-47B6-B250-26AD1829E49A} - (no file)
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [TrustIn Popups] "C:\Program Files\TrustIn Popups\TrustInPopups.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Trust Cleaner] "C:\Program Files\Trust Cleaner\Trust Cleaner.exe"

After placing all the checkmarks, close all windows (except HJT), and then hit Fix Checked. When it finishes, exit HJT.

=====================================

Locate and delete the following folder(s), if present : C:\Program Files\TrustIn Popups
C:\Program Files\Trust Cleaner

=====================================

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
  • Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.
  • Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
  • Select option #1 - Search by typing 1, and press Enter.
  • A text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
  • Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
NOTES :
  • process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes.
  • Do not run the other options of this tool yet until you are asked to do so.
=====================================

In your next reply, please include these log(s):
  • HijackThis log (new)
  • C:\rapport.txt

Look better but still want to install... Spybot blocks it at Windows Startup..

Hmm, it came back on the log. Let's try a different approach.

You may want to print out these instructions or save it as a text document, and use them as a reference. If you have any questions regarding the fix, please ask us before proceeding. It is also important for you to don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order.

=====================================

Download FixTC.reg to your desktop by right clicking on the following link and then selecting Save Link As or Save File as, depending on your browser.

FixTC.reg Download Link

=====================================

I notice that you have TeaTimer running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with HijackThis fixes. You can re-enable this when your computer is already clean.

Disable TeaTimer
  • Open Spybot Search & Destroy.
  • In the Mode menu, click Advanced mode if not already selected.
  • Click Yes at the Warning prompt.
  • Click the Tools menu.
  • Click Resident.
  • Uncheck Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active.
  • Click Exit in the File menu to exit Spybot Search & Destroy.
=====================================

Uninstall Programs
  • Click Start » Run » type: appwiz.cpl » OK
  • Find and remove the following program(s) (if present):

    Trust Cleaner
    TrustIn Popups

  • Close Add/Remove Programs window after uninstalling.
=====================================

=====================================

Show Hidden Files and Folders

Click Start » My Computer » Tools » Folder Options. Select the View tab.
  • Check - Show hidden files and folders
  • Uncheck - Hide file extensions for known types
  • Uncheck - Hide protected operating system files
Click Yes to confirm, then OK to exit.

=====================================

Reboot into Safe Mode
  • Restart your computer.
  • Before the Windows logo appear, tap F8 repeatedly.
  • A menu should appear, select Safe Mode from the menu using your arrow keys and then hit Enter on your keyboard.
  • This will take a while than usual, so just wait.
=====================================

Locate and delete the following folder(s), if present : C:\Program Files\Trust Cleaner\
C:\Program Files\TrustIn Popups\

Locate and delete the following file(s), if present : C:\Documents and Settings\Mylène\Cookies\mylène@xiti[1].txt
=====================================

Go to your desktop and double click on the FixTC.reg file that you downloaded earlier. When it asks if you would like to merge the information, press the Yes button and then the OK button.

=====================================

Restart your computer

=====================================

In your next reply, please include these log(s):

Trust cleaner is not there anymore and your log looks fine now. Just one thing, you disabled some startup items, can you re-enable all startups again and post a new log please? I need to see them as they might be malware.

By the way, what about the empty value registry keys ?? Should I delete them ??

Also, I analysed all my HJT logs, and I noticed a program "C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuauclt.exe", that is a Windows ME update program. I read somwhere on the net that the program wuauclt.exe can be a Trojan. Is there I can verify that this program is not a Trojan ??

No, that one is legit. It checks for Microsoft updates in background. It's a virus/trojan only if it's located in a location other than "C:\WINDOWS\system32".

By the way, what about the empty value registry keys ?? Should I delete them ??

It's the Trust In/Trust Cleaner BHOs.. damn they keep on coming back. Let's try smitRem on them..

You may want to print out these instructions or save it as a text document, and use them as a reference. If you have any questions regarding the fix, please ask us before proceeding. It is also important for you to don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order.

=====================================

Download smitRem.exe
  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Double-click the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.
Download ATF Cleaner
  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Do not run it yet. We will use this later.
Download Ewido Anti-Spyware
  • Install Ewido by double clicking the installer.
  • Follow the prompts. Make sure that Launch Ewido is checked.
  • On the main screen under Your Computer's security.
    • Click on Change state next to Resident shield. It should now change to inactive.
    • Next to Last Update, click on Update now. (You will need an active internet connection to perform this)
    • Wait until you see the Update succesfull message.
  • Click on the Settings tab.
    • Under How to act? click on Recommended Action and choose Quarantine from the popup menu.
    • Under How to scan? all boxes should be selected.

    • Under Reports: click on Automatically generate report after every scan.
    • Under What to scan? select Scan every file.
  • Right-click the Ewido Tray Icon and select Exit. Confirm by clicking Yes.

=====================================

=====================================

Run smitRem
  • Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool.
  • Follow the prompts on screen.
  • Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
  • The tool will create a log found in C:\smitfiles.txt. I will need you to post that later.
=====================================

Run ATF Cleaner
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser, do this also:
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose Select All from the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser, do this also:
  • Click Opera at the top and choose Select All from the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

  • Click the Save Scan Report button.
    • Click the Save Report as button.
    • Save the report to your Desktop.
  • Right-click the Ewido Tray Icon and select Exit. Confirm by clicking Yes.
=====================================

Go to Start | Control Panel | Display | Desktop tab | Customize Desktop button | Web tab.
  • Under Web Pages you should see a checked entry called Security info or something similar.
  • If it is there, select that entry and click the Delete button.
  • Click OK, then Apply, and lastly OK.
=====================================

Restart your computer

=====================================

Run an online scan at Panda's ActiveScan
  • Please go here using Internet Explorer.
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button.
  • A new window will open, click the big Check Now button.
    • Enter your Country.
    • Enter your State/Province.
    • Enter your e-mail address and click send.
    • Select either Home User or Company.
    • Click the big Scan Now button.
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it.
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan.
  • When the download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan.
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.
NOTE: Please ignore any entry it finds and the offer to buy the program to remove the entry, as we will address this later.

=====================================

In your next reply, please include these log(s):
  • HijackThis log (new)
  • C:\smitfiles.txt
  • Ewido
  • Panda

I tried your last steps twice.

The first time, Ewido software detected 3 adware and created a log (see below). It seemed that it didn't solve the problem, so I opened the Register Editor and I manually deleted the keys as specified in the Symantec website (about Adware.TrustInBar). Then I performed your last steps again, Ewido didn't create a log since there were no more spyware detected.

Both time, I was unable to perform a system scan with panda. Anyway, here is the other logs :

The first time, Ewido software detected 3 adware and created a log (see below). It seemed that it didn't solve the problem

From the log, looks like Ewido already took care of the reg entries found. (Cleaned with backup: quarantined)

Both time, I was unable to perform a system scan with panda

Did it give you any errors? Let's try Kaspersky instead.

Hmm, smitRem should take care of that. I'll check that.

Ok, let's clean up the leftovers..

===

Please empty Norton's Quarantine.

===

Uninstall Programs
  • Click Start » Run » type: appwiz.cpl » OK
  • Find and remove the following program(s) (if present):

    TrustIn Contextual

  • Close Add/Remove Programs window after uninstalling.
If it's not there, then that means the uninstall file and the TrustIn's files were already deleted. To this instead :
  • Open HiJackThis
  • Click on the "Config..." button on the bottom right
  • Click on the tab "Misc Tools"
  • Click on the Box that says "Uninstall Manager"
  • Click on the entry: TrustIn Contextual
  • Click on Delete this entry
  • Click "Yes"
===

Clear & Reset System Restore's Cache
  • Click Start » Run » type: control sysdm.cpl,,4 » OK
  • Tick on the checkbox - Turn off System Restore on all drives.
  • Click Apply.
  • Then tick the checkbox again to turn on System Restore.
  • Click Apply, then OK.
===

Then post a new HJT log. Also tell us how are things running now! :thumbsup:
