Removing the 10 icon?

I removed the pesty updates from 2 machines, so no 10 icon in the tray.  Now when time gets short for getting 10 will there be issues or the updates for the transition.

You can install the update, but remove that icon in the tray if you wish, see my thread here:

Also, there shouldn't be, but right now there's no way of being sure of it.

Well, I don't know if you need that update to be elligible for the free upgrade but I don't think so. There will most likely be a way to download the upgrade assistant straight from Microsoft and run it from there, like they did for Windows 8 and 8.1.
