I recently updated my avast antivirus and was really disappointment with my PC performance because my system speed get affected because of my antivirus and even it detects the safe files to be malware. So I uninstalled my current antivirus and updated with Comodo Antivirus software. I am really happy that my system is now malware free. May be you should go ahead with this, it would help you get rid of viruses.

This thread is a year old Emily, and the OP didn't log in on BleepingComputer since December '14, so I doubt that it makes a difference anymore :) Glad to see that you found an Antivirus solution that fits you however.

I've used AVG (paid) for years, and it works fine for me. Whether it's the best - how does one judge?
