Dual Channel RAM is where two identical RAM sticks are placed into corresponding RAM slots, and (if your motherboard has Dual Channel capability) will run faster. Therefore the theory is that 512MB running in dual channel (2 x 256 MB sticks) will run faster than 1 x 512MB stick of RAM.
