What if "sweep" means checking for malware? I would think returning a laptop without OS or anything else on the comp. would be like hanging a sign around your neck saying I have abused company equipment. Why not just run a cleaner and get rid of all temp. files and history files, cookies etc.? Remove any programs that you have added.

Do a google search for CCleaner and download it. CCleaner has options to remove all internet cookies/browsing history/search history/temp files/etc. I wouldn't recoomend a complete reformat while there are other (easier) options available.

and by the way -- Welcome to BleepingComputer

Personal info? Hassle?

CCleaner is the best and easiest-to-use application for this.

Sheesh.
