Hello,

Trying to fix a laptop for my brother, the problem is with the cd/dvd drive, I'm trying to install a new drive, I have two spare drives taken from other laptops, when I insert the drive in the IDE slot and the computer boots up I see the red flashing light of the drive as normal when there is a disk in there, the I get "IDE1 ERROR".

I get the excact same error when I try the other drive, can somebody please tell me why I keep getting this error and how do I get the drive to work once again.

Thanks.
