usb aerial connected for wi fi that no longer works

i have a usb aerial connected for wi fi that no longer works i have tried some basic solutions but it seems to keep saying broken cable i have now noticed the driver refers to connection #2 in network adaptors while the graphic is connection wireless network #3  as i have not used it for a while i may have changed driver or switched sharing or wi fi off, any ideas my usb dongle works  for the internet using a sim chip
