Hello and firstly thank you for looking at my issue.
about a week ago Microsoft Security had removed 2 Trojans  (not sure what they were)
almost immediately  my desk top picture had reverted to Black.   after checking found that my JPEG files wouldn't open showing file maybe damaged, unsupported or corrupted. likewise then when i checked my word and excel documents they had a similar issue.
Video files appear to be unaffected.
i have tried to attach a JPEG file but have had it fail.

all affected files show up as a thumbnail image.
I have noted that files that have worked show in Type of file in properties (JPEG image (.jpeg)) & (PNG Image (.png))
and noticed that they have dimensions when i hover over the image
File type that isn't working are (JPEG Image (.jpg))  which has no dimensions  showing.
i have been able to reclaim some by previous versions.
not sure if any of this helps.
i guess my questions are.
Can i find out what has happened to these files?
Can i fix / reclaim affected files which hadn't backed up with a previous version?
