Hi deza-star :)

Usually, the "Windows isn't genuine" message is legitimate. Did your copy of Windows 7 come with your computer? Did you buy it in a store? Second hand? Can you screenshot the message and post it here?

This is a MGADiag report. I don't know how to read them at this moment (thought I'll learn soon enough), but I know people who can. I'll forward them the thread and ask them to check.

My son built it for me about five years ago

Windows License Type: OEM SLP

System Locked Pre-installation, often abbreviated as SLP, is a procedure used by major OEM computer-manufacturers in order to pre-activate Microsoft Windows before mass distribution.

What is OEM SLP?

A System Locked Pre-installation key, or SLP key, is a product key that does NOT require activation, and is used by major OEMs (Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc.) with Windows Pre-installation deployments, a special way to install Windows for cloning to PCs en masse...The only way you will get a copy of Windows installed using an SLP key is with the original installation media from the OEM, which is usually an imaged based installation with all the bloatware on it

What is an SLP product key?

Hi again deza-star :)

After consultation with an expert about your MGADiag Log, it came to the conclusion that the Windows 7 product key you are running isn't genuine. If your son installed it, then he installed a pirated copy which is illegal.

Here's what the Expert (Noel) I asked to check your log replied:

The Installed Key is an OEM_SLP Key - only valid where the Windows installation was pre-installed by the manufacturer.

The 'manufacturer' here appears to be the OP - and has no rights to use this Key in this way, since the motherboard is a Gigabyte one - and they do NOT as a rule provide boards for OEMS under their own name.

The conclusion is that this is a counterfeit install.
