I've got a hp pavilion G7, cant say the exact model, since all the stickers were removed from the bottom.  powers up, makes all the ticks and whirls it should, screen is blank.  I shined a light to the monitor, and saw nothing. Hooked it up to an external monitor, and it displayed fine.  Anything I could be missing before I order a new screen? Thank you in advance.

Sounds like you covered just about everything. I would check for a loose ribbon cable first (not likely but I have seen it happen). Make sure you order the correct size and resolution LCD (or match part numbers off the back). It's always a good idea to order from a seller that has a good return policy just incase you make a mistake. I have had good luck with retailers on Amazon.com

MLC Distribution, and East Coast LCD's have been very good to me.
