Could you give some more information about this? Like, is it set as your home page, is it a pop-up...?

What exactly did you download?

Could you check if there's something related to Mail.Ru installed in the PC?

First, please download Revo Uninstaller Free and run it. See if Mail.RU is in the list.

If not, skip to the next step. If you do find Mail.RU there:

1. Right click Mail.RU and select "Uninstall". When it asks you if you're sure you want to uninstall it, select "yes".

2. A window will open, with a setting "moderate" checked. If it's not checked, please check "moderate". Then press "next".

3. The Mail.RU uninstaller will run. After it's done, you'll go back to the window of Revo Uninstaller (the one that looks like this, except with "Mail.RU instead of steam in the title lol :P ), and you should press "next"

4. It will scan for leftovers. In the first screen, "Found Leftover Registry items", press "Select all" and press "Delete"

5. The next screen will be "Found leftover files and folders". Delete everything as well.

6. Press "next" and you'll be presented the finish screen.

---------------------------------------

Next step: AdwCleaner

1. Download Adwcleaner and run it.

2. Press the scan button.

3. When it's done, press the "Clean"/"Cleaning" button

4. It will ask you to reboot the PC. Say "yes".

Copy the log it shows after the reboot and paste it here.

------------------------------------

Then, download the Junkware Removal Tool  and run it. Copy the log it shows after it runs and paste it here.

------------------------------------

Are there still any popups? Do any of your browsers have weird home pages?

Alright. So...

Next step: AdwCleaner

1. Download Adwcleaner and run it.

2. Press the scan button.

3. When it's done, press the "Clean"/"Cleaning" button

When you open a new tab Mail.Ru may still load.

Since you're using firefox, do this:

1. Restore the default home page

2. Type about:config in the address bar, click the "ok" button or similar when it displays a warning

3. Search for browser.newtab.url

4. Double click that entry and change whatever is there to this:  about:newtab

Do you have any other browsers affected by this Mail.Ru problem?

EDIT: It would also be helpful if you included that "something" you downloaded that caused your PC to go like this)
