I'm a 21 year old kid trying to fix my dads computer for him since he can barely use the internet. He has pop ups coming up constantely, while on the internet and while just logged on to the computer but not actually browsing the internet. I ran throught all of the steps to get started under the "do you have pop ups or other malware infecting your computer?" I ran all the scan and it found and deleted a bunch of stuff. The pop ups seem to be better but are still pretty bad. Anyways here is the HIjackthis log:

Hello again,

It may be a good idea to print these instructions so that you'll have access to them at all times, especially when you're in Safe Mode later. Please read them carefully and follow them in the order they are presented, without missing any.

Please download Ewido AntiMalware and install it. At the end of the installation process, leave the tick in the "Run Ewido Anti-Spyware 4.0" checkbox. Click "Finish"

When opening screen appears, click "change state" for "Resident Shield" to change state to "inactive" This is done to prevent the resident shield interfering with our attempts to fix the problems present on the pc.

Ewido will automatically update, and a toolbar message balloon will confirm that update is complete. If this doesn't happen, click Update > Start Update. Do not scan with it yet.

=================================

Please download Ccleaner and save it to your desktop. Do not run it yet.
Tutorial for CCleaner
During the installation be sure to UN-check the box for "Ccleaner Yahoo Toolbar" unless you want it

=================================

Run HiJackThis.
  • Click "Open the Misc Tools Section"
  • Click "Open Process manager"
  • Locate (if present) and click on (highlight) the following;
C:\WINDOWS\xload.exe
  • Now double-check and make sure that only that item above is highlighted, then click "Kill process".
  • Click on the Back button to exit Process Manager
Now, back at the main screen of HijackThis, click on Scan and put a check in front of the following, not missing any:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://cincinnati.com/ <=== if you set this yourself as your home page, don't check it.

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\WINDOWS\System32\alg.dll

Close all other browsers (including this one)/applications/windows/email, etc., except HijackThis and click on fix checked.

==========================================

Please run Notepad and copy/paste the following text inside the Code box into a new file: It's important that you use notepad, not wordpad.

attrib -r -h -s C:\WINDOWS\System32\tcvjyauu.dll
del C:\WINDOWS\System32\tcvjyauu.dll
attrib -r -h -s C:\WINDOWS\xload.exe
del C:\WINDOWS\xload.exe
attrib -r -h -s C:\WINDOWS\System32\alg.dll
del C:\WINDOWS\System32\alg.dll

Save the file to the desktop as remove.bat and make sure the "Save as Type" field says "All Files".

===========================================

If you have an "always on" connection to the internet, physically disconnect that connection until you are finished with Safe Mode and have rebooted back into normal mode.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Look in here for
more information.

============================================

In Safe Mode, please go to the desktop and double click on remove.bat.

============================================

From Safe Mode run Ccleaner
  • Click on Options,
  • Select Advanced
  • Now UNCHECK "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours"
  • Make sure the Cleaner block on the left is selected.
  • Do not use the "Issues" block . It's meant for professionals.
  • Choose the Windows tab.
  • Check everything EXCEPT Advanced part of the Menu.
  • Click on "Analyze". This process could take a while.
  • If you don't want to loose your login passwords to certain sites, click on Options
  • Select cookies and move the ones you want to keep to the "cookies to keep" section, by highlighting and using the arrows in the middle.
  • Choose Run Cleaner.
When CCleaner shows how much has been removed, cleaning is finished. Click Exit.
If you have more than one users, run Ccleaner for every user

==============================================

From Safe Mode, please start Ewido, and run a full scan.
  • Click on Scanner
  • Click on the Settings tab.
    • Under How to act? click on Recommended Action and choose Quarantine from the popup menu.
    • Under How to scan? all boxes should be selected.
    • Under Possibly unwanted software: all boxes should be checked.

  • Click on Local Disks to start the scan.
  • Once finished, click see report, then click Save report and save it to your desktop.

Yes, please do rescan and save the log. I need to see the results to make sure that there is nothing else hiding around. HijackThis cannot see everything.

Also, please give me some feed back as to how the computer is running now. Have the popups stopped? Thanks.

Please do the following.
  • Go to the Control Panel and double-click the Java Icon.
  • Under Temporary Internet Files, click the Delete Files button.
  • There are three options in the window to clear the cache - Leave ALL 3 Checked
    • Downloaded Applets
      Downloaded Applications
      Other Files
  • Click OK on Delete Temporary Files Window
    Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.
  • Click OK to leave the Java Control Panel.
====================================

Go to start > run and type: regsvr32 /u occache.dll
(or copy and paste this in the field in start > run )

Now search and delete if present:

C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\CONFLICT.1\MediaTicketsInstaller.INF You can delete the entire folder if you don't have anything else you want to keep inside.
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\USDR6_0001_D13M0607NetInstaller.exe

Go to start > run and type regsvr32 occache.dll
Click OK

Empty your recycle bin.

Also, please give me some feed back as to how the computer is running now. Have the popups stopped? Thanks.

It should look like this:

Posted Image Java .

If you still cannot see it, using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\Adam\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache <======== and empty the contents of this folder, but not the folder itself.
See if this helps:
