Hi dc3

I've changed the location in options from downloads to desktop but it doesn't appear to work.

So I'd best await instructions.

regards,

winston

hi dc3

As a matter of interest I found this:

http://www.infoworld.com/article/2922324/microsoft-windows/windows-usage-tracker-patch-kb-3022345-triggers-sys-file-corruption-which-sfc-is-unable-to-fix.html

http://www.infoworld.com/article/2920975/operating-systems/microsoft-confirms-earlier-versions-of-kb-3022345-and-kb-3048043-broke-updating.html

I believe from memory the log that I posted did indeed have 8 corruptions on it. I'm assuming all those groupings were individual corruptions !

regards,

winston

Hi dc3

I've done that.

When I download SFCFix.exe a black background window opens and in the desktop folder the file is named SFC Fix

When I download SFCFix.zip a window opens with two files in it:

winsxs

SFCFix

and in the desktop folder it is also named as SFC Fix.

Please advise

regards,

winston

Hi dc3,

I edited the last post asking if my fix is the 86.

I'm assuming it is, given that I re installed the Visual C++ 86 packs.

Can you advise on the SFCFix.exe file please.

When it opens white type on a black background it says press any key and then a warning appears re viruses.

I'm pretty sure that over and above these issues I do have a virus aswell (i'm not sure this file corruption is responsible for my e mail password problem for instance, so in view of the warning what do you suggest please.

regards,

winston

Let's make sure which version of Windows 7 you are using, the 32-bit or 64-bit.

Click on the Start orb to open the Start Menu, then right click on Computer.  I the menu that opens select Properties.

When this opens you will see several categories, Windows edition, System, etc.  Under System you will find System type:, this will list whether the operating system is a 32-bit or 64-bit.

Please post which one it is.

If Nasdaq said this computer was clean, I would be inclined to say that this is a fact.

Hi dc3

Its a 64 bit operating system

Re nasdaq.

My understanding is that we stopped the virus checks when he discovered the other problems.

I might be wrong but I am under the impression that when the Visual C++ isssues are sorted (now done) and the file corruptions then it's back to nasdaq.

I'm quite often wrong by the way :)

I've also been playing around and have got the SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip to appear on the desktop but I haven't actioned them yet awaiting your instructions.

winston

Hi again,

Just spoken to nasdaq and yes I mis understood.

The logs indicate no virus and he believes the e mail problem is a Firefox cookie issue and he has given me a link to follow.

regards,

winston

Just to make sure, you are using the Windows 7 64-bit version of the SFCFix, correct?

If you have both of the files on the desktop, click on the zipped file and drag it over the other file and release it, this will run the repair.

When the repair is finished you should receive a message telling you that the repair was successful.

You can right click on the two files and delete them once you are done.
