Hello,

Just wanted to get some expertise on the browser flicker problem I'm having.  After I open a browser and surf the web my browser flickers occasionally.  Sometimes it happens just as I'm looking at a site.  Other times it happens after I click on a link or open a new tab.  I get the feeling someone is taking screenshots or something as I surf?

Appreciate any help,

Your Western Digital hard drive is overheating, heading toward failure, IMO.

I suggest that you run the chkdsk /r command on your C: partition...and follow that up with running the sfc /scannow command.

Chkdsk From Command Prompt, Win 7 - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/496613/contextmenu-is-causing-explorerexe-to-crash/?p=3067880

SFC -SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot - Windows 7 Forums - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/139810-sfc-scannow-run-command-prompt-boot.html

Thanks for your concern about my western digital drive, but I don't use it and if it fails its not a problem.

I ran chkdsk /r which found errors and fixed them

I also ran sfc scannow at boot which found errors it couldn't fix. I ran the command to create a sfcdetails.txt file, but when I open the file it was blank.

This may or may not be related, but I also get dns spoofing frequently according to "WorldIP."  This has been going on for some time.  I'm not sure how reliable WorldIP is?  I've changed my dns servers a couple of times without success.  I've tried using ipconfig /flushdns before, after, using a browser with limited success.  Sometime it fends off the "spoofers" as it were and sometimes not.  Perhaps this is another subject for another time?

To be honest...I'm still trying to figure out what you mean by "flickering."  It's probably best to await some input from someone with more knowledge.

Ok.  Well flicker surely isn't the most technical term I agree, but I don't know how else to describe it w/o causing more confusion.  Alas: Flicker to me is when the browser window flashes briefly while I'm browsing... as if switching between application windows very briefly and then switching back(i.e. a remote user controling my pc briefly...not that I think that's what's going on.)  Hope that helps, but ya if you think someone else might know more that is fine.

I did run sfcfix after running the sfc /scannow command while logged in.  here is what it generated:

,,,abd the problem remains?

I don't see where a single one of the errors reflected in Event Viewer...depicts a problem that could impact browsing.  Ditto for your reported data from sfc /scannow.

OTOH...you do reflect errors impacting system defense mechanisms.

You also reflect a seeming remnant from a Comodo install...you might want to remove this, see http://windowsvc.com/bbs/board.php?bo_table=windowsvc&wr_id=40380 for details on such.

Is there an easier way to see my posts?  The only way I know of is after logging in to go and do a search.

Click on your picture/avatar...takes you to your profile...at the upper right is a button which is titled "find content".  Click that and you can see all.

On the left side of the profile are two buttons...one says "posts", one says "topics".

I try to post...from a position of either knowledge or reasonable thinking, believe it or not :).

I don't try to pretend that I have useful comments to make about every computer situation that may be presented...if I have something to post, I post it and move on.

I have contributed what I thought might be pertinent to your situation...let's see what other members may have to suggest.

[Reworded] CubicR, perhaps you're describing my FF "tabs flicker," which happens quite often in my FF. Does this happen to all your browsers?
During my browsing, with several tabs open, suddenly one or more tabs quickly flickers or flashes, then stabilizes. Could such flickering be caused by either FF's internal cache or an internet server's cache action? -- I don't know.
Let's find out how to reduce if not stop your browser[s] flickering.
