Hello,

when I install a firewall (Comodo, or (not at the same time) Amor), services like the Task Manager, Defragmentation or windows Games won't work, or crash.

If no external firewall is installed, everything seems normal.

What can cause this?

I got this behaviour a month ago. Two weeks I got an additional hardware failure, no reaction of the Notebook at all. This was repaired. After that I set up win7 complete new. And now the behaviour is similar to the one last month, but only when a firewall is installed.

Thank you for your help.

FWIW:  Emsisoft is dropping Online Armor, see Here .  IMO, Comodo Firewall may cause system problems.

If it were me...I'd just use the Windows Firewall, as a test.  Then I would try Avira Internet Security, if I felt that I had to use Avira on my system.

Looking at your errors...I would suspect file corruption and/or missing system files may be a problem.  I don't like the fact that lack of a firewall seemingly allows normal system operation...if being unprotected is "normal".

In any case, I would run the chkdsk /r command...followed by running the sfc /scannow command...then see if system problem persists.

Done the cmd.

"Corrupted files were found but was unable to fix." Details in CBS.log

How do I add something into "My Media" here? Or do I have to upload it somewhere and post it as Link?

I was using Comodo Firewall for some years, and was happy with it. tried Amor Firewall to exclude that Comodo causes the problem.

EDIT: Found it.

No need to post CBS logs for me...I cannot/do not interpret such.  If the system performance improves, that's what I'd like to see.  If performance doesn't improve, I would run chkdsk /r and sfc /scannow again.  Many users make the mistake of assuming that one attempt with these tools...will overcome everything wrong.  Me, I just run them again :).

I'm not a coder, not an IT person...just a (sometimes) knowledgeable system user :) and I don't aspire to using any more tools than I have to, as a user :).

I'm not understanding your comments about the firewalls...did you do as I suggested, as we need to pinpoint the problem?

I ran the commands a few times now. It changed not much.

Some windows updates showed a failed installation after the file fixing cmd. I installed the win updates and executed the commands two times again.

But there are corrupted files that can't be fix, like in my previous post.

The problem with the firewall is still the same.

Online Armor is now uninstalled complete and removed from the Installed program log.

I want to use a firewall with more options than the windows firewall.
