Hi...System Restore Point(s) disappear upon reboot in Windows 7 whether created by the system or created manually. Disc space usage has been tried and adjusted from 1% to 50% with no change - restore points still disappear upon rebooting the system.

Do you have Avast with secure virtual machines module installed; if so, remove said module.

If not, await BC regulars, follow their advice, you can't go wrong.

This can happen if the maximum storage size limit is set too low for the shadow storage.

Open the Control Panel and click on on System, then click on Configure.

Under Disk Space Usage move the Max Usage slider to the right to increase the disk space usage for System Restore points.

I've already done this as a 'first resort'. There's definitely enough space allocated.

Just wondered what "BC regulars" means as I can't figure it out...

Go to Microsoft Support and follow the instructions there to resolve this issue.

I can only guess what RolandJS is implying.  It could be that he is referring to members who are little more advanced than some of the regular members who post in these topics.  These members post in these forums on a regular basis and generally are effective in resolving problems.  We have staff members who are Advisors.  These have been recognized as being knowledgeable and can be trusted.  But there are members who are not interested in being added to the roster of Advisors and are every bit as effective in resolving computer problems.
