I have an ACER X193w LCD Monitor. I was used when I got it, and I have been using it for about 2 years. The top left hand corner has a black area that is really hot to the touch, and it is getting bigger. It goes away temporarily if I push on the screen in that area. About 2 days after I noticed the black spot, I noticed screen flicker, that is also worsening. The monitor stays on for most of the day and sometimes for multiple days at a time.(rarely for that long). The computer stays on all the time, and occasionally gets restarted.

What would cause this and is there anything I can do to repair it myself? preferably without purchasing anything.

Thanks in advance.

*EDIT* I don't know if this matters but I just noticed that there is a weird chemical smell at the area in question!?!?!?!

If the chemical smell is oily the screen is probably cracked and the only option is to replace it.
