I recently updated the bios on an asus P6X58D premium mainboard with an intel i7 930 2800 cpu. The computer now seems to start for a few seconds, shut down, start again for a few seconds, shut down again, and then finally boots.

I assume there's something wrong? Otherwise there seem to be no problems.

After updating the bios did you choose ' Load optimized defaults' or similar setting in bios and choose save and exit?
