Hello

I have been having interrupts in my Ethernet controller at random intervals.  The cable works fine and all of a sudden I am thrown off the Internet and the connection no longer works.  For a while I disabled and re-enabled the network adapter and that fixed it temporarily.  Now, that doesn't even work.

The name "Inventec" looked foreign to me.  I researched it and found this thread from Microsoft which alarmed me:

I don't need a Family Controller and I don't know what happened to my old driver.  I am under the impression that my system is being spied on through this faulty driver that was given to me by MS Windows Update service.

Can someone please walk me through steps to resolve this?

Thank you

'shley

Seems Realtek ID codes can show up as Inventec.

If you would like to try Realtek's own generic drivers for the GigaBit Ethernet (GBE) "family" of chips, they are here:

Thank you

I am not sure which one to download.  I also believe Real Tek is the correct hardware I have, if that makes sense.

I went to HP site and re-installed driver.  I will post back here after I restart and test it out.

I think MS needs to fix their Update service!

Thanks

Personally I regard MS Update as a last resort for system drivers, there's too much room for misidentifying hardware. We'd expect the HP supplied driver to be OK - if not the Realtek Win8, Win8.1 and Server 2012 Auto Installation Program (SID:1717453 seems to me the most likely to try.
