1. download limewire pro from limewire basic
2. go to tools, options, uploads and put no more than 5 in both boxes
3.no matter wat ur connection speed is, put T3 or higher (which more people would tend to download from higher speeds from others, in another words, u'll get more hosts)
4.Don't use limewire accelerators, they'll just make the downloads slower.
5.put more things in ur share folder, so others can have more resources.
6.Do not run other anything that would connect to the internet (if you want the top speed)

I share these tricks for everyone, which if you have anymore good ideas, plz post ur thoughts!!
Enjoy!!

some people told me that using limewire isn't good because i can get spyware and viruses, however I have solved all those problems for my computer, so i don't think limewire is that bad since it is the fastest p2p available.

I've never had any problems with downloading viruses or malware from Limewire, but then again I don't d/l .exe or .zip files.

As for tips, I find it is useful to use the filters - goto tools/options/filters/key words - to prevent it from listing file formats you don't want.

For instance I found when looking for movies you tend to get a heap of trash .mov's listed in your results, so by going to the key words filter as above, if you add .mov to the list, you won't get that file type in your search results.

So if you add all the file extensions you don't want it makes your search results so much easier to scan through.

I didn't know it either, I just discovered you could do it by experimenting. ;)

to get a heap of trash .mov's

What do you mean by this. I have seen these before and I think they play in Quicktime. And as far as I remember I a load of popups appeared while I was watching them. Of the subject I know but thanks.

I'm not saying .mov is a trash format, in fact it is very good, but I was referring to the type of content that tends to turn up on Limewire searches.

you can get spyware easily from the original few versions, but if you have version 4.12.3 you can only get malware, apyware, adware by dowloading something .zip or .exe ( as doid mentioned) but you can check out the host and decide for yourself based on what other files they share. Ive only donwloaded music, one .mov file, and some adobe programs and had no problems at all.

Ok, I have been an anti-limewire person forever (that could be because I don't understand how it works). How exactly does limewire allow a user to download anything (games, programs, etc.) for free without charge? It can't be legal (obviously), so does another limewire give an installation program to limewire for them to host to other users?
