Hi all, this problem only just started.
So I have a pretty quick computer, usually takes around 30 seconds to boot into windows. Yesterday I unplugged my computer and transported it to an event for the day. I noticed on start up there it took maybe just over a minute to load windows, but I didn't think much of it.
When I got home that night with it, I plug it in and booted up fine, a message appeared pretty quick which said "You must restart your computer to apply these changes". I was thinking 'wft changes?' but didn't think much more of it, and hit restart.
The next boot sat on the "starting windows" part for what must have been 10 minutes before I hit reset, thinking it had frozen. Same thing on the next boot. I walked away and left it for 15 minutes, still starting windows. I came back in another 15 minutes, and it was loaded to desk top.
So today after again taking ages to start, I loaded safe mode (which also took quite a bit longer than normal) and system restored to about 10 days ago. Booted up pretty fine after that, maybe a tad longer than the usual but it was far far faster than what it was. Once again I was greeted with "you must restart your computer to apply these changes". What changes???
At this stage I turned to scanning for viruses and malware, and windows updates. Nothing much seem to come up on the scanners, but windows update will not work, just comes up with an error. I tried fixing it using a windows tool I downloaded from the support website, but still nothing. So I restarted the computer. Again, 20+ minutes sitting on 'starting windows'.
So now windows updates is working, I'm downloaded all I can to see if it fixes the problem, but otherwise I really don't know.
I can see people over the internet have had similar problems, but I couldn't really understand what they did to fix aside from system restores.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
