Hi Guys.,

Need help here.

After installing eScan antivirus, files got deleted from 2 Users Desktop.

Complete D Drive got wiped.

It's installed thorugh console, so users got alert about the installation. And that's it. they not able to see any of the files.

I spoke to eScan, they say AV will not delete any of the system files.

Any idea, what may went wrong?

What will be the option to get this files back?

Thanks in Advance

Prakash

Hi bsprakash :)

It could indeed be the fault of eScan, if it had a false positive or another major issue during the installation. Are you able to access its quarantine folder, or at least its logs to see if you can find any files, or traces of deletions in them?

Aura, is eScan Antivirus an online service, a Cloud service, with just few things installed locally?  Would quarantined files also be on the cloud?

Yes, I checked the logs., There is nothing about deletions.

And after that system is not booting.

Yes, i checked the logs and quarantine folder.

I am surprised to see entire drive is wiped.

Now I am able to recover from one of the PC. But have to check with user whether they able to open it or not?

Are you able to access the Recovery PE (select the "Repair your computer automatically" option when you press on F8)?

If your computer is unbootable, we have experts who can assist with such issues using more powerful tools than are permitted in this forum. Please start a new topic, give it a relevant title and post in it in the Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs forum, NOT here, for assistance by the Malware Response Team.

Provide a brief description of your problem, your operating system, a summary of any anti-malware tools you have used and a summary of any steps that you have performed on your own.

After doing this, please reply back in this thread with a link to the new topic so we can close this one.
