Purchase Template need new laptop for photography and travel

Laptop or Desktop?  Laptop

My budget for the new computer is:  $1000

What are the primary uses for this computer (IE: mail, web browsing, programming, games, etc)?  web browsing photo editing, bookkeeping

What software do you intend on using on the computer? Office, photoshop elements,  coral paintshop, quicken

Do you play games? If so, what type of games? no

Do you tend to have a lot of programs running at the same time, or do you close every program when you are done using it?  run 2 - 3 at the same time

Do you store a lot of pictures or music on the computer? Yes pictures

Will you be overclocking?no

Location for online shopping/shipment/prices?  NYS

How many monitors are you planning to use? none

Do you need peripherals? OS?

 

Need it to be on the lighter side, carry  to/from work

Any particular reason why you are upgrading? Trouble with my HP  laptop, about to throw it through the window

This MSI is probably a better deal than the above suggested Lenovo.  It comes with a 1TB hard drive and you can add more memory I suggest 12 MB  upgrade and a 2 TB hard drive since you will be storing pictures on it. And it will still be less than the one suggested above (905.00) better pc better bigger hard drive. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you both for the recommendations, I have looked at both. The Lenovo looks great except it is a bit heavier than I would like.  

I can't tell how heavy the MSI ? one is, I have never heard of this but not surprising since I don't know computers well.

 

I will look into them more when I have time!
