The final release of Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet and its flavors, e.g., Xubuntu 15.04, Lubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu Gnome 15.04, UbuntuKylin 15.04, Ubuntu MATE 15.04, Ubuntu Studio 15.04, and Kubuntu 15.04 are available for download now!
Ubuntu 15.04 will be supported for 9 months for Desktop, Server, and all its official flavors. It features:

Linux Kernel 3.19
Updated packages
systemd has replaced Upstart as the standard boot and service manager on all Ubuntu flavors except Touch.
Unity 7.3
Kubuntu 15.04 comes with Plasma 5 and KDE Applications 14.12 as the default
Gnome 3.14 for Ubuntu Gnome 15.04
Xfce 4.12 for Xubuntu 15.04

Thanks for the links. Downloading Kubuntu 15.04 now. :)

supported for 9 months

This is something I hadn't considered. I wonder, will the next version be released before support for 15.04 runs out? I had planned to replace 14.04 with 15.04, but am not so sure that I will now that I know it's only supported for 9 months. In the first instance I'll install 15.04 on a spare partition to try it out, and keep 14.04 for the meantime.

almost pulled an all nighter installing this one... installer for live is hbleep tho... so i just reinstalled trusty on my (now expanded partition :D) partition and upgraded to utopic and kept the for as long as it took to upgrade to vivid vervet so... i just got it for the numbers at the login screen.


always use DD-WRT for all your routers, if you cant get it for them, throw them away

Normally Ubuntu releases occur in April and October (Ubuntu is named Year.Month), on years like this one where no LTS is being produced this gives upgraders 3 months of support past the 15.10 release to upgrade from 15.04.

Aha, I hadn't even thought of how they decide on the numbers. :)
