I have a Core i7 3770K with an MSI Big Bang Mpower Z77 motherboard and the Z77 chipset only supports PCIe 3.0 x8.

Right now I have dual SLI GTX 680 (2GB) and I was wondering if the PCIe 3.0 x8 would cause a bottleneck with either of those cards.

Furthermore, I was considering upgrading to dual SLI GTX 980 and was curious if the two x8 slots would cause any kind of performance reduction.

Ahhhh...... seems to be one a dose things one will have to experiment with: The environment has too many variables and whatnot.

Only other two-pence I got is a hellova power supply.
