Has anybody used this product (AdFender) yet, as I have installed it a month ago and seem to get reasonable results.

Their main page seems down today when I Google it,but I accessed Download Free Ad Blocking ... - ‎Support About Us   via lower links.

After a refresh and retry, I was able to access their main site - AdFender - The Ultimate Ad Blocker.  Generally seems very light and will not intrude.

It has cleared up a lot of "side-ads" (even here wen not signed in) and I wondered if it had any hidden agendas, like so many other programs.

Thanks -

AdFender is a content-filtering HTTP proxy server that runs on your computer.

I've heard of it, however since I use uBlock I have no real use for it since uBlock can do what AdFender does and more.

uBlock is a browser add-on/plugin and a good one. AdFender is software you install, doesn’t require any browser plugins and works on all browsers without requiring any configuration. AdFender also blocks ads in Instant Messenging programs. If one is using a lot of brower plugins, AdFender is an alternative to use instead of another add-on. Privoxy and Ad Muncher are other alternatives.

I think - Thank you.

After reading of problems with "browser specific" plugins that required more maintaining, I use it to cover F/fox and I.E. mainly (as I "personally only" do not like Chrome).

Again it feels light, and I just wanted to be sure it was kosher ....

Regards -

EDIT - Was not sure if I need to update, or if it is set to Auto update. But I will check for now.

Yes that's one of the primary reasons some folks prefer to use alternatives like AdFender, Privoxy or Ad Muncher. Plus, unlike pugins which are specific to web browsers, the alternatives work on most major web browsers such as IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, Avant, K-Meleon, Maxthon, Lunascape, Epic, etc.

AdFender also blocks ads in Instant Messenging programs.

Can it block ads in programs other than Web Browser and IMs?
