IBM,Sony and Toshiba today unveiled key details of a new computer chip called Cell, being jointly developed by the three companies.

The three companies have been working since 2001 on the new chip, likely to be ten times more powerful than conventional chips, would enable computers and consumer electronic products to easily process large amounts of video and digital content over broadband networks.
