I'm looking at this:

PNY XLR 16GB 2x8 DDR3 1600 (PC312800) $99.00
AMD A10-Series Quad-Core APU A10-5800K, Radeon HD 7660D $90.00
MSI A78M-E35 Micro-ATX Motherboard $65.00
Cougar Solution Black Steel Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case $45.00
Seagate Barracuda 1TB Hard Drive 7200RPM, 64MB, SATA 6Gb/s ST1000DM003 $50.00
Ultra LSP Series V2 550-Watt Power Supply $45.00
CoolerMaster Hyper D92-Universal CPU Cooler-RR-HD92-28PK-R1 $45.00

Sourced from Tiger Direct, which I dealt with for my XP PC, and current W7 machine. I dual boot Linux.  No problems.

I am considerding booting into Windows 8.1, with Classic Shell, and running Mageia Linux as a VM under Oracle's VirtualBox.

Any advice regarding my choice of hardware will be much appreciated. Any advice re: dual booting vs. a VM also welcome

TIA,
