I have an inspieron 14z that has a bios password that I can't manage to get into.  I can't boot it without it.  The service code is 8JHKMT1. I have tried codes like "gabswqnd" and "1ohj8n3o" and "b42FW5RjqeVBKe6R". "uk52rxnm","b6w849rp", "1Js0T033bwmNt073" but none of them work.  So I feel that I am forced to go the hardware route.  I have tried removing the CMOS as you can do with some, but that didn't work.  I have read that you're supposed to short certain pins, but I am not sure what ones I need to short.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Why not ask the owner?

Dell customer support has a master reset code you can get. If the laptop is out of warranty it will cost around 60$ ( according to dell forums) and you will need to provide proof of ownership. You can find articles with an internet search on shorting pins to reset the bios, however if you short the wrong ones you will fry the laptop. I would also remove your service tag from the open forums, it can contain user information.

hamluis: Asking the owner is the first thing I tried.  However, the reason I have it is because he doesn't know it. The password appeared after a failed bios flash.  It is a semi well know issue with this laptop.

Sneakycyber:  I have tried the backdoor codes from dell as I listed above, but none of them work. I have scoured the internet for articles on what pins to short, but there seem to be none that the motherboards look similar to my laptop.

Thanks for the ideas though guys.

Sneakcyber:  I know it is based on the serial number.  As I said, I have tried the unlock codes yet none of the work.
