Error message:

Line 15807 (File "C:\Users\Downloads\adwcleaner_4.201.exe"):

Error: Subscript used on non-accessible variable.

This message appears during the "Generic search in progress ..." phase. After clicking ok, adwcleaner cuts out without finishing the scan. Anyone seen this error, know what's going on, or know a way around it?

Hi FighterRanger :)

AdwCleaner should be ran from the Desktop to avoid false positives and also to make sure that the program runs properly. Can you move the executable on the desktop, right-click on it and select Run as Administrator?

Ah, good suggestion. It was failing to download the updated database. That fixed the issue, thanks!

For future reference, most security tools are required to be Run As Administrator to work properly.

And if I may (to add to what quietman said), if you have UAC disabled and try to do "Run as Admnistrator", it might not always work properly on malware removal tools (or even other programs). So it's suggested to re-enable the UAC to default, restart your computer and then run the tool with "Run as Admnistrator". It's always recommended to have the UAC set at the default level, at a minimum since it's one good protection feature against malware and virus.

Don't disable UAC
