Hello,

Last year I bought a Memorex DVD16+/DL4RWD DVD burner. I used it the day I installed it to burn most of my photos in case of the dreaded crash. Everything worked fine then. Recently, I have tried burning other dvd's and had the process fail repeatedly. I am using Nero to burn. I tried updating Nero, then going back to the one that originally worked. But there was no difference. I am able to burn CD's with the Dvd drive/Nero combination. If anyone has experience with a problem like this, please let me know.

Thanks,

Smoak

Hi, Smoak. Have you bought a new CD brand ? Drives can be picky about the brand of discs thay will accept. FWIW, I've always had 100% success with Memorex CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R and DVD+RW.

Check if the manufacturer has a new firmware revision for you drive. They often do this to increase disc compatibilty and correct bugs. You should be able to find the exact model number and firmware revision in the Hardware Manager. If not, download and install Everest. It has that listed under Storage > ASPI.
-------------------------------
Edit:

Memorex shows a firmware update for their 16X writer here. Click the support button. Make sure your drive is one of the 4 models listed. They all have the very same firmware update. Follow the updating process exactly.

Hello again,

Pascor, I've tried. It's the JWS6.exe update that they built for my model, but when I run it, it fails to flash. For others who have contacted me, thanks as well, but that's not the issue. I just need to save two years worth of photo work and it's easier to put on two dvd's instead of 35 cd's.

The burning process starts but fails before any burn occurs. Usually it fails around the buffering process.

Cache starts/completes
Burn process starts
SCSI command aborts
Generates DVD high compatiblity borders/ succesfully
Burn process fails

Here's the error log if anyone knows what they're looking at.
