I have an eMacine E1161 and I have an HP Deskjet 2050 j510. The printer works fine but when I try to print something, nothing happens. The computer recognizes the printer in the control panel under printers but it doesn't seem to recognize an order to print something. any advice?

Currently, I have the printer hooked up to laptop and have been printing from there but would really like to re-attach the printer to the desktop.

Greetings,

First off I like for you download http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/speccy/dl/193/. Run this application, then on the "file" tab and select "save as text file" post the contents of that text file here on a reply.

Along with running and posting speccy, you can also try to uninstall printer and reinstall printer on your desktop.

Greetings,

First off I like for you download http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/speccy/dl/193/. Run this application, then on the "file" tab and select "save as text file" post the contents of that text file here on a reply.

If you run Speccy DO NOT COPY THE TEXT FILE AND PASTE IT IN A REPLY.

It contains your Windows product key which is something that should not be posted in a public place.

Read this for information on how to post a Speccy log which does not contain the key.

Publish a Snapshot using Speccy - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic323892.html/page__p__1797792#entry1797792 , taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

We prefer the snapshot link method here at  Bleeping Computer.

I attempted to download speccy/dl/193/  but what was downloaded was spsetup126 with 5 listings lang, license, portable.dat, Speccy, and Speccy 64. Nothing with the numbers 193? I am not very literate where computers are concerned so please bear with me on this.

Yes, however, do not let it clean your registry -- only do so if regular BC techs advise for a specific purpose.

msbetty, At one time I had an HP..

At various times one of them would exhibit the same behavior you described.

I uninstalled all HP printer software and drivers and reinstalled. It did not help to correct the problem.

One evening I had to print out a very important document. The printer chose that time to balk and not print it.

I gave up and decided to deal with it later and turned off the computer.

The next morning I turned the computer on, it booted up and as soon as I got to my desktop the printer started working and the document I needed got printed.

Wondering if that might work for you until you get your issue sorted out. It was a pain to have to restart when it did not work but at the time was the only thing I could do. Never did figure out why it sometimes worked and other times did not.

One of the happiest days of my life was the day the HP printer died and I bought a Canon which has given me no problems.

MsBetty -- I believe BleepingComputers downloads [and Windows Club downloads] have a couple of print spooler dumpers and/or kill stalled print jobs utilities -- those will help in clearing out error-out, stalled, etc. print jobs.  Windows includes a way to get into print spooler, I forgot the name of that EXE.

I am sorry I haven't gotten back to you regarding my printer problem but it was because I started to get that blue screen again. It happened 3 times already. Each time I came back to bc and tried to inform you of what was happening the blue screen came up. I did an additional dumb thing and ran that cleaner.......now my computer is on but the monitor is black. I am at my wits end with this. If I shut the monitor off, then on again, it lites up for about 3 seconds then goes black again. It's at my desktop right now even though it's black. I don't know what I did or what to do next. I am currently on my laptop to write this.
