Would this affect Adblock Plus?

No, it will not affect Adblock Plus - only Adblock Edge (which is an offshoot of ABP).

The author of Adblock Edge recommends that users switch to uBlock, a popular up and coming adblocking extension that is not only available for Firefox but also other browsers such as Google Chrome.

As far as Adblock Edge is concerned, it is unlikely that the discontinuation affects existing users of the extension immediately. In the long run however, it is recommended to switch to another add-on for the purpose as it won't receive updates anymore after June 2015.

Not only it recommends to switch to uBlock, but it also discontinues it because of it!

Discontinued in favor of uBlock, a general purpose blocker, that not only outperforms Adblock Edge but is also available on other browsers and, of course, without "Acceptable Ads Whitelist".

I do not read it to say discontinued because of uBlock...in fact, the article writer goes on to say...

It is unclear what discontinued means at this point in time as it is not explained on the page.

It's written right under the first picture.

And I guess they don't know if the discontinued means that the application will be removed from the store, or it'll stay, but will no longer be updated.

I read the entire page and that is where the quote came from which I posted. I still do not read it to say ABE was discontinued because of uBlock...that is an inference which cannot be confirmed with more information. The announcement specifically states "Discontinued in favor of uBlock."

But it says that "You find the reason for the decision in the description". And I guess they are talking about the decision to discontinuate the product, no? So then, what is this reason referring to?

Maybe it's just my understanding of English as a second language only that comes in the way but, I really understand it as this is the reason why Adblock Edge is being discontinued.

I read it the way I explained. If you read it differently, then so be it.
