So glad I found this website - definitely helped me through attempting to salvage data from the stock hard drive in my Samsung NP-XQX411-A01UB when it failed recently. I bought a new hard drive (Western Digital, good reviews on the HD) to replace it, and when it arrived today, I started the process of getting the laptop back to life.
I have a system recovery CD, which let me install Windows7  just fine... but a slew of drivers are missing, of course. There was no second disc with such things as some people have suggested. I've been on the Samsung website looking at the list of drivers available to download.. but a) they don't match the list my laptop gives of missing drivers and B) they are all listed for Windows XP, not Windows 7.

So what to do? That laptop itself won't connect to the internet until drivers are installed, so I can't try auto updates yet.  And just directing me at that list on the Samsung site doesn't help! NONE of the downloads listed on the Samsung website are clearly matches for what my laptop says it needs.

Here's the list my computer gives of what is needed:
PCI Simple Communications Controller
SM Bus Controller
Network Controller
Ethernet Controller
Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller

So which ones do I download, from where?
Help appreciated!!

Hi shadhavarth :)

I'll link you the exact drivers you need to install, I just need a few more information about your system. Follow the instructions below, then I'll link you the drivers.

Samsung have one of the worst drivers webpages ever.

Network Controller: http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=US&CttFileID=3807706&CDCttType=DR&ModelType=C&ModelName=NP-QX411-A01UB&VPath=DR/201201/20120119160526816/WLAN_Intel_64bit_15.0.0.75.ZIP

Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller: http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=US&CttFileID=3807698&CDCttType=DR&ModelType=C&ModelName=NP-QX411-A01UB&VPath=DR/201202/20120229102444358/USB_3.0_2.0.30.0.ZIP

Ethernet Controller: http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=US&CttFileID=3807695&CDCttType=DR&ModelType=C&ModelName=NP-QX411-A01UB&VPath=DR/201108/20110822112733443/LAN_7.36.1224.2010.ZIP

SM BUS Controller Drivers: http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=US&CttFileID=3807693&CDCttType=DR&ModelType=C&ModelName=NP-QX411-A01UB&VPath=DR/201101/20110105141924834/HECI_7.0.0.1118.ZIP

PCI Simple Communications Controller: http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=US&CttFileID=3807692&CDCttType=DR&ModelType=C&ModelName=NP-QX411-A01UB&VPath=DR/201101/20110105141924834/Chipset_9.2.0.1019.ZIP

I suggest you to restart your computer after each driver installation. Once done, let me know if there's still devices listed in the Device Manager that needs drivers.

Thank you! And yes - I was overwhelmed by their pages! It seems to be working fine now, no more devices listed... now the fun part of re-installing all the programs I lost in replacing the dead hard drive. Again, thank you so much for the help and clarity!

I wondered if maybe my new touchpad sensitivity problem is related to a driver? I posted here but now I'm wondering if it's a driver thing. Someone outside of BC suggested that since there's nothing in the Mouse Properties/Device settings related to the sensitivity, that it's missing the right driver. Thoughts?

Yes, you need to install the touchpad drivers in order to enable the Advanced options for it. Here they are:

Okay so that's done and installed, computer restarted... but see no Advanced Options. It pops up on the Hardware tab and has its own tab for "Device Settings" in Mouse Settings... but there's no options yet regarding sensitivity.

If you go in the Control Panel and switch the display type to Big Icons or Small Icons, do you have a new panel for the touchpad? Like Synaptics? It should have the name of your touchpad manufacturer.

here's what I see when I try to find properties for the touchpad driver. I don't understand where you are asking me to look for Big/Small Icons, there's no new panel for touchpad in Display settings.

I'm talking about the Control Panel. Go in it and look in the top right-corner, you should have the display options I mentionned.

As I just said, there are no options for it. Not in display, not on the control panel.
