Hello,

Very new newbie here.  I'm not sure if this is the correct place but I can not get onto the internet.  I ran Malware bytes and it found 64 items and said it is clean. Still not able to get on the internet.  I have followed a couple of random "fixes" by going under cmd and typing a couple thing that should have cleared thing up with no luck.  Not very computer saavy but I can follow steps if someone can assist.  I will be viewing answers on my cell phone since I can't get to the net.  I am using Windows 7 and on a laptop. I can't afford the paid services and my son needs computer for school work.  I do think him  downloading  games is what started all of this.  I also uninstalled my Vipre Security thinking I could reinstall but can't put it back on until I can reach internet:( Thanks in advance for all help.

Try resetting your modem. Unplug it, wait a few seconds, plug it back in, then give it a couple of minutes to get reconnected to your ISP and get everything set back up. Now reboot your computer and then retry reconnecting to the internet once again.

Hi, can you connect successfully by wired? If yes, download and run the programs below please.

Download MiniToolBox and open/run the program.
When open, checkmark or select all options then click Go.
A notepad will open then copy-paste the report on your next reply.

Download then run Farbar Service Scanner and checkmark all boxes.
Click Scan and then a Notepad text will open. Copy-Paste the report on your next reply.

Download SecurityCheck.exe from Here

. Run SecurityCheck and follow the instruction from inside the code box.
. When the scan is finished, a notepad will automatically open as check.txt
Please copy and paste the contents here on your next reply.

I have followed a couple of random "fixes" by going under cmd and typing a couple thing that should have cleared thing up with no luck.

Please post what commands have been tried already including what other scanners have been used in order for us to know. Please post the Malwarebytes last scanned log of infections by going to Mbam History - Application Logs - double click the Scan Log then click the Export and choose text file. Save the log in your desktop then copy/paste the report next time please.

I was not able to connect with Ethernet either.I restored to earlier point when I could get on the internet I'm able to access internet but of course everything malwarebytes cleaned I'm assuming is back on the computer. I keep being blocked by ads plus. I do have malwarebytes on a USB so if you can advise how to clean the correct way that will be great. I'm afraid if I put malwarebyte on again it will block internet access again. I know you requested the report from malwarebytes hopefully you can walk me through do I can actually post it. When I put malwarebytes on the first time I was in safe mode networking

I do have malwarebytes on a USB

Do you have it installed on the affected computer? Can you run Malwarebytes also? Do you see the history logs as instructed? You may need the USB flash drive to copy/paste and install the programs and logs just to check on the report. For additional scanning tools and report needed, see below including my previous instructions above.

Please download RKill by GrinlerLink #1
Link #2
Link #3
Link #4

  • Important! disable any real-time monitoring anti-malware software that you have installed so that it does not interfere with RKill running, as some anti-malware software detect RKill as malicious. Please refer to this page if you are not sure how.
  • Download Link #1 and save it to your Desktop.
  • Double-click the RKill desktop icon. (If you are using Vista please right-click and choose "Run as Administrator".)
  • A black screen will briefly flash indicating a successful run.
  • If this does not occur please delete that application and download Link #2.
  • Repeat the process until one of the tool versions runs successfully. (If the tool does not run successfully from any of the links, tell me about it.)
  • This will temporarily shut-down the malware, hopefully long enough to allow the next tool to run successfully.

Download Adwcleaner by Xplode from here.
Click on Adwcleaner and hit the Scan button and will begin to search for PUP and malicious files. Once finished click the Clean button.

Copy and paste the log on your next reply.

Thank you. I can get on internet now I think its all clean. I didn't think I would get a reply when I was switched to another forum. Restored to an earlier point when I could get on internet. I went into safe mode networking loaded malwarebytes grabbed avast also ran both scan. Then I was able to go out on internet and update my lifetime vipre antivirus. Should I still run above items? How will I be able to determine if I'm still infected? Thanks for your help.

You can safely run Adwcleaner and disregard the Rkill instruction and then post the result. :thumbup2:
