I have an ASUS Model A55 series.

I need to find a replacement CDDVD writer. I have hunted but come up with nothing so far.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you.

When you pull the drive is there a model number shown? The closest I could find is here but you need to confirm the model number on the drive. You may have to transfer the plastic bezel from the old to the new. You will be able to find a cheaper one if you put the model number in ebay search. Most of the cheaper UJ8C0's are used.

The DVD  burner is probably made by Panasonic. I think it's old enough where you can only find used ones for cheap. Since it is a SATA dvd burner you may be able to find a generic SATA dvd burner and then transfer the plastic bezel but not all DVD drives have the same attachment scheme for the faceplate. You may be able to install this drive without changing any faceplate but the fit may not be perfect.

Here is a video on the faceplate attachment.

Thank you. I've been watching some How-To video's. But I can't find anything on How to Remove the Keyboard on my particular model. It's different than other ASUS models.

Thank you again!

Why do you need to remove the keyboard? Is your keyboard defective also?

Edit: from what I can tell the keyboard on this model is hard to remove. I would let a shop do it.

Video  This is for the K55 series but I believe it is similar to the A55.

I saw the Writer replaced 2 ways. One from the top and one from the bottom. You're right, no need to remove the keyboard to get to it.
