external hdd problems

i have a hitachi external disk(2,5 inches,500gb)

i was using it at a laptop but it has one bad sector,so i made it external for storage.

i use hard disk sentinel for hdd monitoring.

i see that this hard drive when im trying ot enter the disk it takes it 2 seconds to get in also you can hear the needle......but after that its going quick,also i see that compare to other hard drives i have which are older,this one has 12.333 start and stop counts,when other have just 2000.

its weird i think that this hdd is always going to slepp mode so everytime i click on in it loads 2 sec and adds also to hdd sentinel one extra start count.

 

here is the log file guys so that you ll see and tell me what is the problem or what should i do.thanks

i know it has 1 bad sector and this also Problems occurred between the communication of the disk and the host 39058 times.

but i cant explain the start and stop counts and the needle that i can hear it and takes 2 sec to load.

dicke was referring to disabling selective suspend on the USB ports. Disabling it keeps the power on to the USB ports.

I think your start stop counts will always go up. That is normal for a hard drive. If the computer sleeps and then resumes that would count as one start stop count.

I don't think you need to worry about the Start/Stop count attribute. The ones to worry about are Reallocated Sector Count, and Current Pending Sector Count. On your drive those attributes are good. If you see the RAW value increasing rapidly then you should be worried.
