My 'My Computer' folder used to be nice and organised -- it had headings for removable drives, etc.
Now, for some reason, there are no headings, and the icons are put in a random order -- all jumbled up.

Is there a way to restore it to its previous state?

Click on My Computer. In the Explorer toolbar select the Icons view. Right-click somewhere on a blank area on the right pane and hover over 'Arrange Icons By" and then select 'Show In Groups'.
