My computer has been acting up in the last couple of weeks and I have no idea if they're hardware or software/malware related.
Recently I've done a full W7 reinstall on this new 500 GB HD I've bought. I've learned a few valuable lessons after clogging up the last HD with useless stuff. I'm fairly sure this is not malware/virus related, but I'm not an expert and the only things I've done were a full MalwareBytes scan along with an Avast full scan. I haven't visited any sketchy websites, or downloaded any suspicious files.
First of all, it has been randomly BSODing for the past couple of months. I've gotten about half a dozen so far. Honestly, I ignored them at first, because they were isolated, so I don't remember any error messages (if any); all I remember is that it said something about Windows finding a critical error and having to shut the PC down for its own safety.
My PC is also generally sluggish for no apparent reason lately. As I've said, I've been trying to keep it clean (in both ways), and I REALLY doubt it's a virus. It gets specially sluggish after I exit games after playing them for at least one hour... possible GPU/CPU overheating problems? I've also noticed that it started to stutter in games I used to be able ot run just fine. My browser also has been acting up lately. Whenever there's an HD video, it loads as it should, according to the speed of my connection, but actually clicking on the video and having it play is sometimes sluggish and very slow for no reason.
Finally, my biggest issue right now is that my PC has been randomly rebooting outta nowhere for the last couple of weeks. it's happened three or four times by now. It doesn't just freeze then reboot itself; it close any program that might be open, shuts down, then reboots itself, as if I had manually done so. I don't know if it's relevant, but it has only happened while I was in-game. Also, as soon as the computer reboots, that small icon on the bottom right that's supposed to warn you about Windows updates says something along these lines: "your computer has been rebooted in order to succesfully install the updates". I'm not sure if it has happened EVERY TIME it self-rebooted; I only noticed it on the last couple of times.
Like I've said, this is a relatively new reinstall, and I really doubt it's virus/malware related, but you can't never be too careful.
Here are my PC temps five minutes after the last reboot (which happened while I was in-game, hence the relatively high temp - note that I also live in a relatively hot place and my entire house is closed due to mosquitos)
Some further info about my PC. I've ditched my old HD and installed W7 on this new one, but everything else is several years old; the RAM, the CPU, the GPU and the motherboard. The GPU and CPU are both around six or seven years old.
